Calibration and Repair Services

Radiation Monitors sold by Geiger Counters International LLC are manufactured by International Medcom, Inc. and are factory-tested and electronically calibrated. The Radalert 100™ and Inspector Alert™ and ONYX™ are shipped with a certificate of conformance certifying that the device has been electronically calibrated.

Calibration Services For NIST Compliance

Qal-Tek Associates offers ISO 17025 NIST calibrations (National Institute of Standards and Technology) and the highest level of repairs. Calibrations are available for the Radalert 100™, Inspector Alert™, and the ONYX™. The cost of calibration for the Radalert 100™ is $50.00 per device plus shipping and handling. The cost for the Inspector Alert™ and ONYX is $70.00 plus shipping and handling.

If your organization or facility requires NIST calibration for compliance with applicable state and/or federal regulations, please let us know at the time of your order. The NIST calibration will cost an additional $75.00 for the Radalert 100™ and $95.00 for the Inspector Alert™ and ONYX™. Included in this price is shipping to the lab and back.

Repair Services

Problems with the device? Please first review the Troubleshooting section of the operating manual. Also review our power point tutorials If you still are having problems with your device please send us an email or call us.

Be sure to immediately contact Geiger Counters International LLC if you receive a unit that is damaged in shipping. Remember to keep all packaging material in the state as it was received. We need to contact the shipping carrier and file a claim. If the unit you received has stopped working, contact us right away and we will issue an RMA or repair authorization.

If your unit is still under warranty, we may ask you to send your unit to Qal-Tek Associates and we will provide you with an RMA number to place on the package and also inside the package. For out of warranty devices, no RMA # is required. Contact Qal-Tek Associates directly.

How to Send Your Instrument for Calibration or Repair

If your device has been damaged in transit or fails to operate properly, please package it carefully, with sufficient bubble-wrap and ship it to our repair facility at the following address:

For non-warranty repairs, the customer is responsible for the cost of shipping the instrument to and from our repair facility. For warranty services, the customer is responsible for the cost of shipping the instrument to our repair facility, and Geiger Counters international LLC will pay for return the deice to the customer by a standard shipping method.

Note for Calibrations and Repairs:

Any device contaminated by radioactive materials will not be accepted Contaminated instruments will be disposed of in accordance with our local, state, and federal regulations. The instrument owner will be charged for the disposal cost and will not be recompensed for the loss of the instrument. If you believe that your radiation monitor came in contact with radioactive materials use a second radiation monitor to insure that you do not send a contaminated instrument to our facilities. If your instrument is contaminated and you would like to have your instrument decontaminated or disposed of properly, please contact Qal-Tek Associates directly to obtain proper procedures on how to ship your instrument to them. Qal-Tek Qal-Tek Associates Associates charge $120.00/hr. for decontamination and their disposal fee varies depending on the severity of contamination to your device(s).

Device repair by anyone other than by the manufacture International Medcom (IMI) or our approved repair facility voids this warranty. Geiger Counters International LLC (GCI) is also not responsible for incidental or consequential damages arising from the use of this instrument.

Again any radioactive contamination of the device with radioactive materials voids the warranty and the device will not be accepted for repair.

Warranty

When You Receive Your Instrument

After you order and receive a new instrument: 1. Open the package and determine if the meter has been damaged in shipping. Remember to turn the unit on and make sure that the meter and display works. If it does not work on arrival, immediately contact us, so that we can talk to the shipping carrier used and make an insurance declaration.
2. If you suspect there is a problem with the GM Geiger tube, be sure to contact us right away. There is only a one year warranty on that core part for the instrument.
3. Contact us regarding any warranty repair issues. We need to issue an RMA number to authorize repair of the units. See below for more information.

Warranty & Warranty Services

We offer the following two-year limited warranty on all of our handheld radiation detection instruments : This product is warranted to the original owner to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for two years from the date of purchase with the exception of the Geiger-Müller tube, which is warranted for one year, and with the exception of the battery, which is not included in this warranty. IMI will, at its own discretion, repair or replace this instrument if it fails to operate properly within this warranty period unless the warranty has been voided by any of the following circumstances: misuse, abuse, or neglect of this instrument voids this warranty; modification or repair of this instrument by anyone other than IMI or their approved repair facility voids this warranty; contamination of this instrument with radioactive materials voids this warranty. Contaminated instruments will not be accepted for servicing at our repair facility.

This warranty applies solely to the original owner and is valid only on instruments sold by IMI and its authorized representatives.

The user is responsible for determining the suitability of this product for his or her intended application. The user assumes all risk and liability connected with such use. Geiger Counters Internatioanl and/or IMI is not responsible for incidental or consequential damages arising from the use of this instrument.

How to Request Warranty Service

If your instrument fails to operate properly within the warranty period, contact us to receive a return authorization number (RMA). DO NOT SEND WITHOUT AN RMA NUMBER ON THE PACKAGE! All shipments without an RMA will be refused.
Please package the unit carefully — with plenty of bubble-wrap and/or non-toxic packaging materials — insure it and ship it with the RMA number written on the package to the repair facility at the following address:
